Why is my UIF number provided by SARS not working?

You are trying to capture your UIF number on Radar, but it says the number entered is invalid.

When an employer registers with SARS for employee (EMP) taxes, you are provided with a ten-digit PAYE number that starts with a "7" (e.g. 7123456789) as well as a ten-digit UIF number that is the same as the PAYE number except for the first number, the "7" (e.g. U123456789), that is replaced with a "U".

However, this number is only applicable as a reference for SARS and does not mean that you, the employer, are registered for UIF at the Department of Labour.

You, the employer, will have to register with the Department of Labour via uFiling or emailing a completed UI19 and UI8 to the Department of Labour at newui8registration@labour.gov.za.

Once you are registered, you will receive a UIF number that is 9 digits long in the following format, for example, 1234567/8.

This is the UIF number that needs to be entered in the UIF number field on your Radar profile.
